Three men were killed and a 14-year-old boy was wounded when gunmen opened fire on people sitting in a yard in Seine Street, Eindhoven, Delft, on Sunday night before they “fled the scene empty-handed”.
Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said it was believed to be a gang-related shooting.
Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the three men, aged 27, 30, and 34, and the attempted murder of the 14-year-old boy.
“Unknown assailants opened fire on the group where they were sitting in the yard of a residence.”
“Anti-Gang Unit members were deployed in the area to search for the suspects and prevent any further violence that could endanger the lives of the community,” Traut added.

Delft community policing forum spokesperson Jackie Ockhuizen: “According to information from the community, five people were sitting in front of a shack busy smoking when the gunshots went off.”
Ockhuizen conveyed condolences to the families of those who were killed in the attack.
He added that the CPF had asked the police to put more boots on the ground, with foot patrols and more visible police patrols.
“We request the police to urgently investigate this matter to make sure the trigger-happy perpetrators are arrested,” Ockhuizen added.
